Easter Edition

My family does some pretty serious egg decorating. My mom mixes the dyes (food coloring, vinegar and water), and heats them up periodically (makes the colors more vibrant). I'm sure there was once a time when we just dunked the eggs and called it a day, but at this point egg decorating is an art.

My dad and brother are big fans of multiple layered dips. My sister and mom are all about painting over the dyed color. My future sister-in-law, J, and I got to work with some rubber-bands and even tape (epic fail) to preserve the white shell or a previous dip. I even did some sponge painting with the dye and a tissue.

Make sure your area is well protected with newspaper- my fingers are still dyed, so I don't want to think about what food coloring does to a nice table or clothing.

It's tradition that our loved ones get eggs, which includes aunts and uncles, significant others, and eve pets. This year, even my blog got an egg :)

Our beautiful eggs don't last long- we turn them all into delicious deviled eggs on Easter day. My brother is the keeper of the keys on that one- he makes them every year, and they are always perfection.

mine are the awesome ombre ones, duh
There are many, many techniques for egg dyeing, but as every other author in the blogosphere has already done a round-up, I'm just going to leave you with my family's style. Nothing better than original content, no?

Some great campaign furniture coming your way soon. Stay tuned.
